The News Minute | February 19, 2015 | 9:50 am ISTThe states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have hit a roadblock again after AP reportedly refused to share expenditure on security forces by undivided AP during the Telangana struggle for separate statehood between 2009 and 2014.During the struggle, which witnessed widespread protests all over the state's capital with many students from the Osmania University campus resorting to violence and vandalism, the Centre had deployed a large number of security personnel to maintain law and order.It was in 1969 that the Telangana struggle first started as an uprising by government employees and students of the Osmania University but the movement died, only to be revived again by KCR and his Telangana Rasthra Samhiti (TRS) which is currently the ruling party in the state.Roughly Rs 1,200 crore was spent and the Centre had asked Telangana to bear Rs 700 crore and AP Rs 500 crore. However, AP - which is already going through a financial crisis, has claimed that the entire force was utilised in Hyderabad and Telangana districts, it must bear the expenses. In August 2014, Andhra’s maiden budget post the split, a budget of RS. 1.11 lakh crore was presented which exposed the state’s deep financial crunch regarding its fiscal debt.A situation which was attributed to the UPA government’s ‘irrational and unscientific’ bifurcation of the state, financial difficulties regarding the budget were determined by the fiscal deficit projected at RS. 12, 064 crore for the remaining finical year.Telangana is yet to respond to its neighbour's claims and is likely to demand that AP pay up its share of the expense to the centre.TweetFollow @thenewsminute
