The News Minute | January 3, 2015 | 7:55 am ISTThe Andhra Pradesh government has decided to build a temporary capital at the Amaravati Township at Mangalgiri by July to shift major departments until the new capital is constructed.Owing to a space crunch in Hyderabad, which is the common capital of Telangana and Andhra, the Chandrababu Naidu government has entrusted the Infrastructure Corporation if AP (INCAP) with building the temporary capital, a report in the Times of India adds. The government had considered various plots around Vijayawada and Guntur to shift offices before zeroing down on the current location. This decision to construct a temporary capital has received criticism from the opposition claiming it to be a waste of public money. The report also adds that former MLA and Congress leader Malladi Vishnu demanded that the government give an explanation to this move when there was ample space in other locations.Tweet
