Stepping up the ante against the Centre, the YSRCP said that it will move a no-confidence motion in Parliament on March 21, demanding that Andhra Pradesh be accorded special category status (SCS).

YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy said that his party's MPs would resign on April 6, if the Centre did not act before the deadline. 

“We are prepared to move the no-trust vote on March 21 to show to the nation as to who stands where on the SCS issue and how the promises made during the division of the state were simply traded for personal gains by (Chief Minister) Chandrababu Naidu. We will demand that the 22 legislators and 3 MPs who crossed over should resign to upkeep the value system of the democracy," Jagan was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, he also demanded that Naidu and his TDP party must walk out of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre on March 5.

“Now, it is Pawan Kalyan’s responsibility to persuade the TDP to either move a no-confidence motion or back the one to be tabled by the YSRCP on March 21,” Jagan added.

In February, angered by the 'injustice' to his state in the Union Budget, Andhra CM Naidu said that he was ready to move a no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government, but only as a "last resort".

"The Centre did nothing for us in the last four years. As Chief Minister, I will not tolerate if injustice is done to people...We will continue our fight for justice to AP. If that doesn't happen, we will muster support from other parties and move the no-trust motion," Naidu was quoted as saying.

 The Jana Sena party chief also extended his support to the idea of moving a no-confidence motion.

“I will meet Left, Congress and other parties personally and seek their support if the YSR Congress moves the motion. If need be, I will go to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and seek the support of the parties there. Not just 50, I am hopeful that around 80 members will support the move ” Pawan Kalyan told reporters earlier.
