Andhra Pradesh's capital district to be named after NTR?

Written by : TNM

The News Minute | March 29, 2015 | 11:15 am ISTThe new capital district of Andhra Pradesh may be named after TDP founder and former chief minister NT Rama Rao after deputy chief minister KE Krishnamurthy dropped a hint to the media, along those lines on Saturday.Krishnamurthy, who attended the Brahmotsavams of Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple at Vontimitta, addressed the media at the state guest house in Kadapa and claimed that when Kadapa could be renamed as YSR district after a former chief minister, the new capital region could also be named after NTR.The proposal has been taken up by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and he might make an announcement to this effect on Sunday, the foundation day of TDP, reports suggest. This comes a few days after 'Amaravathi' was zeroed in as the name for the new capital. According to reports, Krishnamurthy wants the NTR district and Amaravathi to share the same relationship as Rangareddy district and Hyderabad. Though the deputy chief minister could not be contacted, sources close to him told The News Minute that the proposal is being considered by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu who is mostly expected to respond positively."The Deputy CM feels that, it would be appropriate to name the new district after NTR as the new capital is being constructed on a global scale and will highlight Telugu cultural traditions and will make Andhra more prominent on the world map." a source close to Krishnamurthy said. The capital city will be constructed with the support of Singapore, Japan and other countries. TweetFollow @thenewsminuteRead - Naidu asks people to donate a day's income every month for capital construction.
