Andhra Pradesh imposes autesterity measures on officials

The News Minute | July 29, 2014 | 2.45 pm ISTThe Andhra Pradesh government has told its elected officials and bureaucracy to avoid unnecessary expenses and also take any measure that would reduce the state’s revenues.In a circular issued on Monday, the state government said that officials and ministers were prohibited from holding press conferences in five-star hotels, and to avoid extravagance when organzing seminars and meetings according to a Deccan Chronicle report.The report also said that the government had forbidden the purchase of new vehicles, reduce advertising expenditure, and has also banned foreign visits. The government has also said that officials must not take any measure which would result in the reduction of revenues to the state exchequer.
