The News Minute | August 1, 2014 | 12:47 pm ISTThe Andhra Pradesh government is keen on hosting the National Games in 2017 and state labour and sports minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu recently said that the sports infrastructure in the state needs to be developed from now itself, states a report by Deccan Chronicle. The Andhra Pradesh government has written to the Centre requesting for the state to be allowed to host the 2017 National Games. Although the venue for the Games has not been finalised yet, the state wants to start making all preparations from now. Hosting the Games will give the state an economic boost. The report quotes the minister as saying,“There is a lot of economic prosperity associated with the National Games in terms of associated opportunities. But we have to begin preparatory work now itself so if the Centre asks us later what infrastructure we have, we need to have something to show".
