The Andhra Pradesh government has hiked the fees in private medical colleges by 15% for post-graduate and super specialty courses, and by 10% on undergraduate courses, in private medical colleges. The hiked fee structure will be applicable for the academic year 2026-27.
The new interim fee structures were fixed by the Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Fee Regulatory and Monitoring Commission (APHERMC) and notified by the Health, Medical & Family Welfare Department on August 29 through three separate government orders (GOs).
They were notified in exercises of powers conferred under Section 7 of Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Prohibition of Capitation Fee) Act, 1983, which allows the government to regulate fees.
The annual tuition fees for super specialty courses at GSL, Katuri, Narayana, and NRI Medical Colleges, and the Dr Pinnamaneni Siddartha Institute of Medical Sciences, have been hiked from Rs 17.25 lakh to Rs 19.83 lakh. The Narayana Medical College was founded by state Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana.
The MBBS fees for a regular convener quota seat have been hiked from Rs 16,500 to Rs 18,150 . Management quota MBBS fees have gone up from Rs 13.2 lakh to Rs 14.52 lakh, and NRI quota MBBS fees from Rs 39.6 lakh to Rs 43.56 lakh. The fees for dental courses have also been similarly increased.
For a medical PG clinical degree, the fees under the regular Category A (convener quota) has been increased from Rs 4.97 lakh to Rs 5.71 lakh. For Category B (management quota), the fees have been increased from Rs 9.94 lakh to Rs 11.43 lakh. For Category C (NRI quota), the fees have gone up from Rs 57.5 lakh to Rs 66.12 lakh.
