Andhra CM Naidu hits back at Pawan Kalyan after Jana Sena rally

Written by : TNM Staff

A day after actor-politician Pawan Kalyan lashed out at the TDP, the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh hit back at the Jana Sena chief.

Terming the allegations of corruption 'baseless and meaningless', Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu claimed that it was part of a larger 'conspiracy' to weaken the TDP.

Alleging that the BJP supported Pawan Kalyan, Naidu said that the actor-politician was reading a 'New Delhi' script.

Addressing party leaders during a teleconference, Naidu said, "We know where these drama scripts have come from.. There are some bigwigs behind this conspiracy. Let them play any number of dramas, ultimately people will deliver the right judgement."

“A few individuals are working secretly against the TDP government and have a hidden understanding with the Union Government,” he added.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters later in the day, TDP AP chief and Energy Minister K Kala Venkata Rao accused Pawan Kalyan of diluting the issue of Special Category Status (SCS), and asked him why he did not indulge in personal attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Deputy Chief Minister Chinna Rajappa also dismissed the charges of corruption.

“He is assuming politics as a fun and cinema and speaking in the same manner,”  Marketing Minister C Adinarayana was quoted as saying.

Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday lashed out at the TDP and the BJP for failing to keep their promises to the people of Andhra Pradesh.

The Jana Sena chief was addressing a massive rally for his party's fourth Formation Day meeting at the open grounds opposite Acharya Nagarjuna University.

Speaking about Andhra Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan levelled corruption charges against the TDP.

"I supported the TDP and the BJP parties during the general elections held in 2014 with a hope that they would rebuild the state which had no Capital and no financial resources. But the state government has belied my hopes and the aspirations of crores of people. Why should I support these parties which have betrayed the people?" he asked.

Talking about why he had supported the TDP-BJP coalition, he said "Naidu is an expert and a good administrator but I'm hearing false statements and half-truths. You (Naidu) said 1,500-2,000 acres is enough for capital construction, but the figure has now gone to 36,000 acres."

"What about Uttarandra, Rayalaseema and Prakasham district ,why are you doing same mistake of just developing one region?" the Jana Sena chief asked.

In another blow, Pawan also accused Naidu of letting his son and Andhra IT Minister, Nara Lokesh, go scot-free over corruption charges.

"Don't you know about your son Lokesh's corruption? Are you letting him do it despite your knowledge? if so, I'm leaving it to your wisdom," he said.

He alleged that businessman Sekhar Reddy who was arrested post-demonetisation, was in touch with Lokesh.
