Andhra and Telangana continue to sizzle in the heat, temperature crosses over 40 degrees Celsius

Summer has just begun but the maximum temperatures at a few places in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have already crossed 41 degrees Celsius.

Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh was the hottest place in the two Telugu states on Monday with the maximum temperature of 41.7 degrees.

Adilabad in Telangana sizzled at 41.6 degrees. Nizamabad recorded the highest temperature of 41.2 degrees, according to Hyderabad Meteorological Centre.

At nearly 40 degrees Celsius, Hyderabad was also one of the hottest places in Telangana. The city recorded 39.9 degrees, three notches above the average.

The maximum temperature was above average in many places in Telangana. Mahabubnagar and Medak also crossed 40 degrees.

The met office has forecast that dry weather will continue to prevail over next five days with maximum temperature likely to be two to three degrees above average.

Andhra Pradesh is also likely to experience similar weather conditions. Kurnool on Monday recorded maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. It was 37.5 in Tirupati.

The sharp rise in day temperature has forced the people to remain indoors, especially in the afternoon.

Authorities in Telangana and Andhra have prepared an action plan to prevent deaths due to heat wave.
