Andhra ACB arrests official in DA case for assets more than Rs 3 crore

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested Deputy Commissioner (Endowments) Kancharla Vijaya Sagar Babu in Andhra with regard to a disproportionate assets case. 

Even as Vijaya Sagar was produced in the ACB Court in Vijayawada, officials seized Rs 1.4 crore in cash from three bank lockers located at Nunna (in Krishna district), Kurnool and Guntur districts, The Hindu reported.

Speaking to The Hindu, DSP Rama Devi said, "We opened the bank lockers in Andhra Bank Branches at Nunna, Old Guntur and Kurnool and found Rs. 1.4 crore cash. The lockers in Nunna and Kurnool are in the name of Sagar Babu’s wife and the locker at Old Guntur Branch was opened in the name of Mannem Srinivasa Rao, who is the benami of the officer."

Quoting a press release, a report in The New Indian Express adds: 

The ACB seized disproportionate assets worth about Rs 3.79 crore, as per government valuation, including Rs 1.4 crore in cash, documents pertaining to six plots in Krishna district, a commercial shop at Nunna, a house in Vijayawada and two acres farm land. They also seized two four-wheelers, a two-wheeler, 750 gms gold ornaments and 1.75 kg silver worth Rs 6.5 lakh.
