35-year-old AP woman and two kids die after setting herself and children on fire

In a tragic incident, a 35-year old woman committed suicide by burning herself after setting her four children too on fire in Punganur 50 km from Tirupati on Thursday, police said.

Her two girl children also succumbed to burns, police said.

Jharina Begum in a fit of rage after a quarrel with her husband doused herself and her four children including two daughters, aged between 14 and 6 years, with kerosene and set ablaze herself and her kids, police said.

After hearing their cries, the neighbours rushed to the spot and shifted them to a nearby government hospital where the mother and her two daughters aged 14 and 6 breathed their last.

A 10-year-old son, who had 40 per cent burns was battling for life and another son who sustained burns on his hands was recovering, police said.
