Following on the heels of news that renowned news anchor and Editor-in-chief of Times Now Arnab Goswami has resigned from the Times Group, we are told that he has been in talks over setting up a new English news channel.

According to sources, Arnab Goswami had had a series of meetings with various entrepreneurs and the plan for the new venture has been finalized. The venture will include a TV news channel with a big digital footprint, and Arnab Goswami will be a prominent stakeholder in the venture. This new venture also ties neatly with Arnab's ambition to have a bite of some global action too and not just remain the prime time darling of Indian news television

“One of the reasons why he wanted to move to a new venture is because this was the stage in his career to not just be an Editor, but to own a venture,” said a source.

The grapevine has it that the channel will be funded by an entrepreneur based out of south India and an international media house may also be part of the venture. Though TNM reached out to the entrepreneur, he denied the same.

"The valuation has been going on for some time. It's a favorable deal," said the source.

There had been talks with another entrepreneur too, but those talks broke down. This information was confirmed by multiple sources to TNM.

While none of the principals have put out any information about this, The News Minute (TNM) has learnt that an announcement confirming the new venture is imminent.
