The son of Tollywood producer late S Gopal Reddy, was found dead in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district in the early hours of Tuesday, after apparently drowning at a beach in Pambali.

Reports suggest that Bhargav Reddy had visited the beach as he owned a hatchery in the area, but did not come back after he went for a walk.

“Bhargav Reddy came to Pambali village at around 4:30 pm. After interacting with the staff at the hatchery, he paid electricity bills and wages to them. Further, he went to the sea coast along with his pet at around 5:30 pm on Monday and did not return,” Vakadu Circle Inspector U Satyanarayana was quoted as saying.

The police suspect that Bhargav and his dog may have been washed away due to strong waves during high tide and couldn't manage to swim against the fast current of the water.

Staff at the hatchery also told the police that he frequently bathed his dog in the sea. The pet is yet to be found.

The body was noticed near Srinivasapuram by fishermen, who alerted the police.

“It looks like an accidental drowning case, but we are verifying all angles. We are waiting for the post-mortem report. The dog is still missing,” Vakadu inspector Uppala Satyanarayana told ToI.

However, there is also speculation that Bhargav may have killed himself.

Taking to Twitter, actor Vishal, who was reported to be a cousin of the deceased, said, “Bhargav. I wish you didn’t end your life. No way. I lost my own brother. I will never get over this guilt. I am lost in between all this chaos. I take to Twitter to say I miss you man. I would have sorted your issues. I cry and I message.”

Producer Gopal Reddy was the founder of popular production company Bhargava Arts, which directed several films in the 1980s and 1990s, especially starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role.

According to media reports, the company stopped producing films in 2008, after the death of Gopal Reddy, with Bhargav Reddy switching over to other business ventures.
