The RSS office in Kerala's Payyannur in Kannur district was vandalised and set on fire on Tuesday night, allegedly by the CPI (M).

The office is located at Perumba near Payyannur.

Prajil KB, RSS Kannur Vibhag Prachar Pramukh, told The News Minute, ”The office was fully vandalised. Now only the structure exists. The BJP office near that was also vandalised.”

Condemning the attack, the RSS has called for a hartal in Payyannur on Wednesday

According to a source, this attack followed an attack on a CPI (M) event in which Kodiyeri Balakrishnan took part in.

Country made bombs were reportedly hurled at the crowd, following which a few people were injured.

"The CPI (M) workers are behind the attack. It was a mass attack. We are yet to arrest the accused. There was a programme in which CPI (M) state secretary was speaking on Tuesday. RSS workers hurled bombs at the function. It was in retaliation that the RSS office was attacked," a police officer said.
