A thirty-seven-year-old civil contractor, an RSS member and ex-BJP secretary, was hacked to death by two unknown assailants on a bike in Bengaluru on Sunday morning.

The incident happened at the busy Nala Junction in Shivajinagar.

The victim, identified as R Rudresh, was reportedly getting back home from the RSS members meeting and march-past with his friend Jairam. Two other bike-borne men rode up to them and attacked Rudresh with a sharp weapon. Before speeding away, one of the bike-born assailants even got off the scooter to kick him, reported Bangalore Mirror.

Rudresh was rushed to Bowring Hospital where he was declared brought dead. He is survived by his wife Divya and two children.

The police and administration had to deploy Rapid Action Force (RAF) contingents along with police vigilance to avert any mishap in Shivajinagar,reported ToI.

“The assault occurred between 12.30pm and 12.45pm when he was riding his scooter on Kamaraj Road. A murder case has been registered at the Commercial Street police station and we are probing the incident,” said P Harisekaran, additional commissioner of police (east).

Police said that six special teams have been formed to nab the killers. However, no one has identified the assailants as they were wearing helmets, reported TNIE.

Meanwhile, right-wing activists have called for a bandh in Shivajinagar constituency in Bengaluru on Monday following the murder.

The Bengaluru City police have imposed Section 144 in Shivajinagar, Frazer Town, Commercial Street and Bharathi Nagar from 6am to midnight on Monday.

Following the attack on Sunday, tension prevailed in Shivajinagar area after local right-wing members took to protest in the area. They reportedly blocked Commercial Road for over an hour causing a traffic jam. Later they moved to the spot of murder and sat on dharna.
