Panasonic appears to be revving up its presence in the smartphones market, particularly in India. While the company made its entry into the mobile segment with a couple of feature phones in 2013-14, it didn’t take long to launch smartphones as well. But the company seems to have found success with its Eluga series smartphones and is ramping up the offerings one after the other. The latest phones with the Eluga tag to hit the Indian market are Eluga Ray Max and Eluga Ray X. The USP in these phones is going to be a personal assistant developed in-house by Panasonic called Arbo. This artificial intelligence (AI) based bot will keep a tab on your phone usage and also your location to make suggestions that can make your experience in using the phone a pleasure.

Apart from this, the new phones will come with 4G compatibility, fingerprint sensor features and a selfie flash.

Specifications: Panasonic Eluga Ray Max

The Eluga Ray Max model will have a 5.2inch display offering a resolution of 1980x1020 and has Corning Glass 3 for protection from screen damage. The main CPU is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor in octa-core and delivering a moderate 1.2GHz, with a 64-bit Adreno 505 processor.

The phone is being released in two capacities, 32 GB and 64 GB, as far as the storage is concerned. The RAM is again comfortably calibrated at 3GB. Memory expansion is feasible up to 128 GB. The phones come in the dual SIM models and operate on Android Marshmallow.

When it comes to the cameras, the main one is a 16MP sensor and the front one is 8MP.  There is an LED flash provision for the front camera as well. The battery is a 3000 mAh one with a quick charge facility.

In all, the phone should provide a smooth experience for the users and Panasonic has tried to offer these phones at competitive prices. The phones are available only on Flipkart, beginning April 1 and will be available at Rs 11,499 for 32 GB and Rs 12, 499 for the 64 GB version.

Panasonic Eluga Ray X

This is the slightly lower-end offering among the new phones being released in India by Panasonic. It has a marginally larger display of 5.5 inches, but a lower resolution (720x1280). This is a 3G phone and the internal storage is pegged at 32GB with a microSD card slot that can be expanded up to 64 GB. The phone operates on the same Android M and the battery power is 4000 mAh. The battery cannot be removed/replaced. When it comes to the cameras, the rear and front are 13MP and 5MP respectively. A quad-core MediaTek MTK6737 processor runs the phone offering 1.3 GHz. Eluga Ray X comes with 3 GB of RAM.

Though the phone is positioned as a 3G offering, it can deliver 4G support for a few service providers’ networks in India.

The Panasonic Eluga Ray X is aggressively priced at Rs 8,999 and will be available through Flipkart.
