After about 25 years, music buffs will have the pleasure of listening to a song rendered by the two legends – KJ Yesudas and SP Balasubramaniam. The duo last sang together in the Mani Ratnam directorial Thalapathy. The song, Kaatu Kuyilu, which was filmed on the two Superstars – Rajinikanth and Mammootty – was a massive hit that was scored by maestro Ilaiyaraja.

Reports are that KJ Yesudas and SP Balasubramaniam will be rendering a song in the movie Kinar, which will also be released in Tamil under the title Keni. Scoring the music for this venture will be M Jayachandran with Hari Narayanan and Pazhani Bharathi penning the lyrics. Sources say that KJ Yesudas will be rendering the Malayalam lyrics in the song while SPB would render the Tamil lyrics.

Directed by MA Nishad, the film has Revathy and Jaya Prada playing the main leads. Kinar will also have as many as 58 well known artistes playing various roles. According to sources close to the film unit, it deals with water scarcity and its implication on the people.

The director is well known for directing films such as Ayudham in 2008, Vairam: Fight of Justice in 2009 and Best of Luck in 2010. Speaking about his current venture, the director was quoted by the Indian Express as stating, “Kinar is a symbolic representation of the water shortage we face today.”

On roping in Revathy and Jaya Prada, he had said, “When I narrated the script, both were very excited to be part of the film. While Jaya Prada plays the role of a housewife, Revathy plays the Thirunelveli Collector. Since the film is female-oriented, we needed talented actors.”

The star cast of Kinar also includes Archana, Indrans, Joy Mathew and Bhagat Manuel.
