The shooting of Mohanlal’s upcoming film Odiyan went on the floors in Kasi some weeks ago and is progressing at a brisk pace.

The film’s director VA Shrikumar Menon had posted a few pics from the sets of the film and a photo of Mohanlal dressed up as an ascetic with matted hair has raked up expectation levels.

Adding to the excitement, the star has now released a promo video introducing the ‘Manickyan’ character that he is playing in the film. In the video, Mohanlal says, “Though Manickyan’s story does not take place in Kasi, he reaches Kasi to put an end to everything in his life. Finally, Manickyan decides to return to Thenikurissi and he faces unexpected things there.”

Mohanlal also introduced the film’s cinematographer Shaji Kumar, director VA Shrikumar Menon and stunt master Peter Hein. Scoring the music for this flick is M Jayachandran and Prashanth Maddhav will be creating the sets as the film is based in a different era.

The film is bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas. While Mohanlal plays the title role in the film, it has Manju Warrier as the female lead. The star cast also includes Prakash Raj and Sarath Kumar in pivotal roles.

It is worth mentioning here that Mohanlal will be appearing in different get-ups in this film as his character will be seen from 35 to 65 years. The star has done a lot of homework to get his role right and has also shed about 15 kilos for one of the getups, say sources.
