Mammootty’s upcoming film has an interesting title - Unda. The title has created a sense of curiosity among the fans already.

Written and directed by Khalid Rahman, the film is an action comedy that is bankrolled by Moviee Mill's Krishnan Sethukumar and Gemini Studios. The film has Mammootty in the lead role playing a police officer, with Shine Tom Chacko, Jacob Gregory, Arjun Ashokan and Omkar Das Manikpuri in supporting roles. Asif Ali, Vinay Forrt, and Sudhi Koppa will be seen making cameo appearances in this film.

The music of the film is by Prashant Pillai and the cinematography is handled by Jimshi Khalid and Sajith Purushan.

Besides Unda, Mammootty also has Pathinettaam Padi and Maamaankam scheduled for release this year.

Mammootty has a crucial role to play in Pathinettam Padi. His character is named John Abraham Palackal and the crux of the story falls on him. The film will mark the debut of actor and writer Shankar Ramakrishnan as director. It is bankrolled by August Cinemas. The film’s technical crew mainly comprises debutants with Sudeep Elamon cranking the camera, KH Kaashif composing the music and Bhuvan Sreenivas taking care of its editing.

With the shooting of Pathinettam Padi reaching the final stages, we can expect the film’s release date to be announced soon.

The other Mammootty starrer - Maamaankam - is a historical based on a medieval fair for warriors. The film had run into controversy when there were differences between the director Sajeev Pillai and producer Venu Kunnapilly. This had resulted in director Padmakumar replacing Sajeev Pillai.
