The Hyderabad police arrested a man on Wednesday for allegedly installing secret cameras, to spy on his tenants.

Following a complaint, the Chatrinaka police raided 50-year-old J Vijayanand's house, where they seized a monitor, a CPU, a hard disk, a TV tuner, three spy cameras, a DVR and a pen drive.

"One day when one of the tenants went to Vijayanand's house to pay rent, he found the TV playing a video of his family. The shocked victim realised that a spy camera was installed in his house. When he alerted other families, they found spy cameras in their rooms too," a press release from the police stated.

A woman victim, who found a hidden camera in her bedroom later approached the police and lodged a formal complaint.

Vijayanand was an electrician.

The accused had reportedly been recording private moments of his tenants over the last two months.

“He appears to be obsessed with voyeurism. For the last two months, he spent his time looking at the footages. We are probing if he has shared the visuals with anybody else,” Falaknuma ACP Tajuddin Ahmed told Deccan Chronicle.

A case has been against the accused under Section 354-C of the IPC, which deals with voyeurism.
