Hrithik claims Kangana has Asperger's, a mother of a boy with the disorder responds angrily

Bollywood romances and break-ups come and go- some surprise us, some shock us, some we feel bad for and for some we couldn’t care less.

The Hrithik Roshan-Kangana Ranaut spat is on a different level altogether. For one, most didn’t know anything about a supposed affair brewing between the two until they became exes (rumoured).

And it all came to light after the duo started engaging in a very public mudslinging since early this year.

Only this time, it has gotten uglier.

Hrithik and Kangana recently slapped legal notices on each other with the former alleging defamation and the latter stating intimidation and threat as the reason.

On Wednesday, Mumbai Mirror reported the several allegations that the actors have levelled against each other in their notices.

While Hrithik claimed, among other things, that he was stalked by an “obsessed” Kangana on email and the latter calling him narcissistic.

However, what has not gone down well with some is Hrithik’s reference to a neurobiological disorder in his notice.

According to Mirror, the actor in his notice claims that “Kangana suffers from Asperger's syndrome which makes her imagine things”.

A reader and the parent of a nine-year-old with Asperger’s wrote in the comment section below the report,

“It saddens to know celebrities holding certain credibility in the mass making statements without any reference points. Kindly note, individuals with Asperger's Syndrome DO NOT imagine things. It is best to orient oneself by simply reading thoroughly through DSM IV guidelines before making any judgmental statements.

Individuals with Asperger's Syndrome are cognitively remarkable, they are impaired socially. There is no study or research advocating any delusional or hallucinatory kind of behavior being displayed by them.”

What is Asperger’s Syndrome?

The National Autistic Society describes Asperger syndrome as “a form of autism, which is a lifelong disability that affects how a person makes sense of the world, processes information and relates to other people. Autism is often described as a 'spectrum disorder' because the condition affects people in many different ways and to varying degrees.”

People with Asperger’s have difficulty in three areas- social communication, social interaction and social imagination. Also, people cannot say a person has Asperger’s just from the way he or she looks.

The Latika Roy Foundation states the following as some of the signs of Asperger’s syndrome:

• Abnormal non-verbal communication, such as problems with eye contact, facial expressions, body postures or gestures
• Failure to develop peer relationships
• Lack of spontaneous seeking to share enjoyment, interests or achievements with other people (example, by a lack of showing, bringing or pointing out objects of interest to other people)
• Marked impaired expression of pleasure in other people's happiness
• Inability to return social or emotional cues (such as feelings)
• Inflexibility about changes in specific routines or rituals
• Repetitive movements, such as finger flapping, twisting or whole body movements
• Preoccupation with restricted areas of interest (usually narrow or unusually intense). Examples include obsession with train schedules, stamps etc.
• Preoccupation with parts of whole objects
• Repetitive behaviors, including repetitive self-injurious behavior
• There is no general delay in language
• There is no delay in cognitive development, or in the development of age appropriate self-help skills or in curiosity of the environment.

How the ex-war started

It was rumoured that the duo, who worked together in “Kites” and “Krrish 3” were dating each other, though it was never publicly acknowledged by them.

Earlier this year, tinseltown was abuzz with rumours of Kangana having been ousted from “Aashiqui 3” because of Hrithik. Responding to it, Kangana had then told Pinkvilla, "Yes, many lame rumours are doing the rounds, even a dumb ass can tell where these rumours are coming from. I don't know why exes do silly things to get your attention. For me that chapter is over and I don't dig graves."

Soon after, Hrithik took to Twitter to dismiss the rumours.

Hrithik in his notice has asked for an apology from Kangana for referring to him as a “silly ex”.
