The world’s largest express transportation company FedEx Express today launched a grant in India to help small businesses connect with global customers. As per a report by Business Insider, FedEx has announced the launch of the FedEx Small Business Grant Contest.

This contest will give small businesses in India an opportunity to win a grant of Rs 15,00,000. Being held in India for the first time, the contest is designed to inspire small businesses in India and provide them with financial resources required for their business goal, thus helping them grow their footprint and sharpen their competitive edge.

Every for-profit small business in India that has been operational for over a year can enter the contest. Contestant should submit their business stories online on the FedEX website between April 25 and May 23. These entries will then be judged. Ten shortlisted entries will be announced in June and will then be invited to present a live pitch of their story. Post this, the winner will be announced in July. The official rules of the contest can be accessed on the company’s website.

The FedEx Small Business Grant Contest was first launched in the US and then was expanded to reach customers in other countries last year. It currently conducts the contest in Brazil, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore and the UK in addition to the US. This year, the contest also makes its debut in China, and Italy, apart from India.

Last year, Singapore-based company RedWhite Apparel, founded by a keen cyclist, produced high-performance but affordable long-distance cycling bib shorts to win the grant.

The company already had a presence in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Taiwan. And winning the contest gave the company access to expand operations into other countries like Australia, Europe and the USA.
