A Madikeri court has ordered an FIR to be filed against Bengaluru Minister KJ George and the two IPS officers who allegedly harassed DySP Ganapathy.

Presiding over the Madikeri Additional JMFC court, judge Annapoorneshwari on Monday ordered the Madikeri Town police to lodge an FIR against Bengaluru Minister KJ George. The order comes in the private complaint filed by Ganapathy’s family.

George declined to comment when journalists sought a response from him.

Following the order, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has gone into a huddle with senior ministers to take a call on whether George’s resignation should be obtained or not. They will also discuss whether or not to appeal to the Karnataka High Court in connection with the FIR over George’s alleged involvement in the suicide.

The Opposition in the meanwhile, has demanded that George resign. Holding a media conference, Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar said that an impartial investigation could not be conducted as long as George was still a minister. He also said that the two police officers named in the complaint should be suspended to ensure a fair investigation.
