Though Ramaleela, starring Dileep in the lead role, was released in September this year amidst a lot of controversies, it managed to score big at the box office. The film’s collections at the ticket counter proved that it is a massive success. And now, reports have emerged that Ramaleela’s satellite rights have been bagged by Mazhavil Manorama for a huge price. Though the exact amount has not been disclosed yet, sources in the know say that it is a record price for a Dileep starrer till now.

Ramaleela was scheduled for release in July but was postponed at the last minute due to some production delays. Unfortunately, when the film was gearing up for release, its lead star Dileep was arrested in the actor assault case which impacted its release then. Eventually, the filmmakers cleared all the hurdles and Ramaleela hit the marquee in September.

Directed by debutant Arun Gopy, the film has Mukesh, Prayaga Martin, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Siddique and Kalabhavan Shajon in important roles. A political thriller, the film is written by Sachy. Ramaleela is produced and distributed by Tomichan Mulakuppadam under the banner Mulakuppadam Films on a budget of Rs. 14 crores. Gopi Sunder has composed music for this flick with Shaji Kumar cranking the camera. Editing for Ramaleela has been done by the national award-winning editor Vivek Harshan.

Released in 129 screens in Kerala on September 28, 2017, the film went on to collect Rs. 2.13 crore on the opening day at the Kerala box office and its total collections were Rs. 10.60 crore during its first 4-day run. Trade sources reveal that the film grossed Rs. 20.66 crore from 11 days run at the Kerala box office making it a huge box office success.
