After dengue fever claimed the lives of 17 people in Khammam in the past few weeks, five medical teams from other parts of Telangana have been sent to Khammam to identify the causes of dengue in the area.

The State Government has decided to send a special team from Fever Hospital to Bonakal village and also to send three 104 vehicles and mobile clinics to the dengue-affected villages.

It was also decided to conduct health check up for every person in the dengue-affected villages of Bonakal, Ravinutala, Govindapuram and Alapadu.

Health minister Dr Laxma Reddy told the officials of Khammam district to shift the serious cases to Khammam and Hyderabad.

“A house-to-house survey will be conducted in Bonakal, Raviuntala and Govind Puram villages. There will be awareness programmes on spread of the disease. Spraying and fogging will be done every alternate day. Mosquito nets will also be provided,” she told Deccan Chronicle.

According to reports, as many as 770 dengue cases have been reported in the district till Thursday, out of which, 312 were identified in Bonkal alone.
