India’s women’s team won the ODI cricket World Cup qualifier beating South Africa by one wicket in a thrilling final played at Colombo, Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
With India needing eight runs off two balls in the last over, Harmanpreet Kaur stepped up to the plate and smashed a six off the penultimate delivery before scoring a brace off the last ball to seal victory.
Earlier, the openers had laid a solid foundation with a 122-run opening stand, in pursuit of the South African total of 245.
Before this match, India had already booked their place in the World Cup. However, this win ensured that they remained unbeaten in the tournament.
