Just when you thought the world was all done with #DeepVeer wedding news, a new controversy surrounding the wedding has come our way.

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh had two wedding ceremonies at their much-hyped, ultra-private wedding near Italy’s Lake Como. There was a Konkani-style wedding on November 14, and an Anand Karaj or Sikh wedding ceremony on November 15. It’s the Anand Karaj wedding that has reportedly drawn controversy.

According to a report in The Tribune, the head of an Italian Sikh group has alleged that the Sikh code of conduct, or the Akal Takht ‘hukumnama,’ was violated by this wedding. Deepika and Ranveer allegedly did so by conducting their wedding in a makeshift gurudwara at the Villa del Balbianello. It is forbidden for the Guru Granth Sahib, which is the holy book of that faith, to be taken anywhere outside of a gurudwara.

The Hindustan Times reports that the Guru Granth Sahib used at this wedding was brought from a gurdwara in Brescia to the wedding villa in Lake Como, a full 150 km away, and the complaint alleges that the holy book should not have been transported in this way, nor taken to a hotel or banquet hall, and other locations for the ceremony.

“It was a major lapse on the part of the gurdwara management,” the leader of the Italian-Sikh group, Sukhdev Singh Kang told The Tribune.

Kang has reportedly made a complaint requesting an investigation and further action to the Akal Takht Jathedar, the appointed global head of all Sikhs. The Tribune quotes the Akal Takht acting Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh saying that five high priests would look into this matter once the complaint about Deepika and Ranveer’s wedding was received by them.
