Union minister and BJP leader from Bihar Giriraj Singh on Monday criticized former union minister and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s speech at the JNU campus on Sunday.

He tweeted, “Comparing an anti-National with a freedom fighter is a sign of greed and absence of truth. @ShashiTharoor should mind his speech.”

On Sunday, Tharoor taking a dig at ruling BJP over its stand on the JNU row, Tharoor said people should have the right to choose what they believe is correct and still be tolerant of others' ideas in a democracy.

He also compared JNUSU president saying, “Bhagat Singh was Kanhaiya Kumar of his times.”

In the national executive meeting that concluded on Sunday, Amit Shah had said, “In JNU, slogans were raised to destroy India. Rahul Gandhi went there and said nothing about these slogans but instead tried to justify them on the ground of freedom of expression... The BJP welcomes any criticism of the party, person or government, but it will not tolerate criticism of the country. While the BJP fully respects freedom of expression, patently anti-national activity cannot be justified on the plea of freedom of expression. It is plainly not acceptable.”
