Facing criticism from opposition and allies alike, Maharashtra Rural Development Minister Pankaja Munde on Monday came out with her explanation on her controversial selfie in the drought hit region of Latur.
On her Facebook page, Munde who is also the guardian minister for Beed and Latur wrote, “I was really happy to see water in a trench, so I clicked some pictures & recorded work being done.”
On Sunday, Munde had posted the selfie on Twitter with a canal in Sia village at the site desilting work on Manjara river

Reacting to her tweet, opposition Congress and ally Shiv Sena had hit out at the leader and her party strongly.
The Congress said, "BJP as a whole is a selfie and optics party, this is like making a mockery of the drought."
"In such a serious situation the ministers are clicking selfies. I think they should watch their actions before doing such things. Pankaja Munde should have avoided this," said Manisha Kayande of the Shiv Sena.
