In the wake of the rape of two children in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal has trained his guns on the union government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On Twitter, he asked the PM to “stop being stubborn” for the betterment of the citizens living in Delhi.
Citing a recent survey which states that one-third of Delhi’s households had paid a bribe last year, Kejriwal urged the centre to hand over the administration of Delhi Police and the Anti-Corruption Bureau to the Delhi government.
Currently, Delhi Police reports to the Union Home Ministry.
But Kejriwal threatened to launch an alternative police force and said that he was looking into the legal feasibility of such a move.
Responding to these developments, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi however, called such a move “laughable” and “anti-Constitutional”. He said, “It's absolutely wrong when he is talking of a parallel police force.”
Bassi also told a news channel that Kejriwal should focus on governance as he had failed to deal with corruption.
