The body of a 14-year-old scheduled caste boy from Haryana was on Thursday found hanging in an empty house right behind his own home in Gohana town in the state, reported The Times of India.

The boy, identified as Govinda, was picked up on Wednesday by the police for questioning over the theft of two pigeons and his family has alleged that the teen was killed by cops.

Following protests by angry locals, two Assistant Sub-inspector of police (ASI) of Gohana police station, Subhash and Ashok, have been booked for murder, states the report.

Officials however refused to divulge the surnames of the accused.

The TOI report further states, "On condition of anonymity, local police officials said it was likely that Govinda hanged himself after being accused of theft. His family has, however, alleged that the two ASIs killed Govinda after taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. They alleged that the boy was killed in custody and his body was later hanged near his home to make it look like a suicide."

This incident comes just two days after two Dalit children, a nine-month-old girl and her her two-and-a-half-year-old brother, were burnt alive in Haryana's Faridabad district after their house was allegedly set on fire by upper caste men over a feud.
