The News Minute | November 30, 2014 | 09:44 am IST Karnataka has been granted a loan of Rs 276 crore by the World Bank for the immediate repair of 28 reservoirs in the state, reports The New Indian Express. The dams, which will be improved under the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP), will undergo repairs and strengthening works including those for leakage, reduction of seepage, strengthening the crest gates and improving the overall ability of the dam to withstand floods, adds the report. The project will reportedly also include training dam personnel in modern technology. The dams which will undergo safety and repair work under this project are KRS, Narayanapura, Almatti, Hidkal, Malaprabha, Dharma Reservoir, Karanja, Amarja, Lower Mullamari, Bhadra, Tungabhadra, Hemavathy, Devarabelekere, Madaga Masur, Maskinagala, Votehole, Gayathri, Chikkahole, Hagaribommanahalli, Chulkinala, Mallagatta, Upper Mullamari, Lower Mullamari, Hattikuni, Vanivilas Sagar, Harangi and Kabini dams.
