The News Minute | March 28, 2015 | 10.15 am ISTTeachers in government schools and aided schools will no longer have to wait for months together to receive their salaries once the state government implements its decision announced in the Assembly on Friday.Answering a question asked by BJP MLC Ganesh Karnik, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Ratnakar said that the government would take measures to transfer salaries directly into the bank accounts of teachers through the finance department. The move is likely to affect around four lakh teachers in government and aided schools, but it is unclear when the government will implement the decision.Under the present system, proposals for salaries are sent to the state government through the block education officers, deputy directors of public instruction, zilla panchayat CEOs which results in chronic delays of two to three months.Ratnakar added that delays are also caused when new teachers and recruited, transfers of staff, appointment of teachers on contract basis.
