The News Minute | September 16, 2014 | 3.21 pm ISTA senior BJP leader and Hukkeri MLA Umesh V Katti has repeated his demand for a separate state carved out of northern Karnataka and that he wants to head this state.After raising a furore by demanding a separate state for northern districts a few days ago, Katti went a step further on Tuesday and said that he wants to be chief minister of that state.Speaking to Kannada news channel Suvarna News 24x7, Katti said that he was qualified to be a chief minister. He said: “I have the qualities required to be a chief minister. I had the wish to become chief minister of Akhanda Karnataka (the present state), but if northern Karnataka becomes a separate state, I will be chief minister of that state.”He continued: “I have been MLA six times, I have been a minister twice, I have the determination (chala) to be the chief minister, if there is a separate state, then I will definitely be the chief minister.”According a report published by the channel a man named R M Prasad of the Kannada Anushtana Mandali has filed a case against him with the Bangalore police, but the details of the case are not known. Responding to news about the case against him, Katti told the channel: “Why one case, let them put 10 cases, I wish to be the CM, I have the qualities too, I will definitely be the CM.”
