After the recent Supreme Court directive, the State Election Commission (SEC) is likely for hold BBMP elections in mid-July this year, according to the Deccan Chronicle.The Supreme Court had directed the Karnataka state government to conduct BBMP polls within the three months setting August 5 as the deadline.The SEC has scheduled the gram panchayat elections for two phases on May 29 and June 2 and is likely to hold the polls to the civic body soon after.No less than 50% of the seats have been reserved for women in the BBMP elections and meeting has been scheduled by the Chief Minister on Friday to discuss issues regarding reservation, state Minister of Transport and Bengaluru District in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy said.He also added that if the government was not successful in bifurcating or trifurcating BBMP, the present 198 wards would be restructured “with rationalisation of population”.
