Ecommerce player ShopClues has entered into a partnership with Idea’s digital wallet Idea Money to enable offline retailers book and sell products available on the ecommerce platform, according to PTI

In a statement jointly put out by Idea Money and ShopClues, the companies said that they entered into a partnership to sell products through Idea’s Retailer Assisted Model (RAM) via local retailers. “The partnership will help millions of on ground customers who may not have access to the internet, to make easy, convenient and secure purchase transactions," they said.

According to the statement, once a purchase is made, customers will be able to pay for the product through Idea Money to ShopClues. The product will then be delivered by ShopClues to the customer’s desired point of delivery.

Idea Money, through its RAM and a network of 1.8 million Idea retailers will help ShopClues increase its presence in the tier 3 and 4 markets and scale up rural assisted e-commerce business.

"Idea Money's association with ShopClues will not only help them target our Idea customer base of nearly 200 million, but also provide several of these customers, who have no access to internet, the ability to conduct online purchases," Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank CEO (Designate) Sudhakar Ramasubramanian said.

A number of ecommerce players have been adopting an Omni channel approach to expand their reach to most sellers and customers. Paytm, too, launched an offline-to-online method using its QR code.

Just recently, ShopClues also launched an express payout service to allow merchants to get up to 80% of their payment that is pending in advance. The idea here was to give merchants access to working capital to run their daily business. The company claimed to have catered to over 2,000 payout requests.
