Competitive politics reached a peak in Andhra, with the TDP and YSR Congress Party moving separate no-confidence motions against the BJP at the Centre on Friday. However, YSCRP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was quick to take credit for TDP’s decision to move a no-confidence motion.

Jagan took to Twitter and said, “After 4 years of relentless struggle and fight by YSRCP with people’s support for Special Category Status; finally the nation, including Chandrababu’s TDP wakes up!

He also emphasised that the YSRCP would continue to fight for the state’s Special Category Status.

“Even if guided by political compulsion, TDP had to yet again follow YSRCP’s lead of moving no confidence motion against the Central Govt for not granting SCS to AP. Win for democracy & people of AP. YSRCP will continue to fight for SCS, the rights of the people of AP.”

On Friday, the TDP, after announcing its exit from the NDA government, also said that it would be moving a no-confidence motion against the government.

The TDP MPs speaking to media, at New Delhi announced that they made the swift decision as they didn’t have faith in the YSR Congress party. The TDP is presently in the process of getting signatures for the same. According to TDP MP Pandula Ravindra Babu, the party expects to get 54 signatures.

“We have no belief in their (YSRCP) intentions of giving this (no-confidence) notice. But, our leader Chandrababu garu is determined to send a serious notice by having 54 signatures, which is required for giving a no-confidence motion,” Ravindra Babu said.

TDP’s decision to move the no-confidence motion was announced after party supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu held a politburo meeting via teleconference on Friday.

Rajya Sabha MP CM Ramesh said they took the lead in the no-confidence motion as they believe that the YSRCP colluded with the BJP.

“With their 5 MPs no-confidence motion, nothing will happen,” he said.
