The News Minute | December 23, 2014 | 11.00 am ISTThe High Court of Andhra Pradesh has asked the Telangana government to focus on issues faced by farmers rather than giving importance to sports and entertainment.Division bench of the High Court was hearing a petition seeking financial assistance from the Telangana government and the Centre to the bereaved family members of the farmers who committed suicide in the state.“It seems that the government is focusing on one side, by extending financial benefits to sports personalities and celebrities and also spending huge amounts on entertainment. The government has to be pragmatic towards framers,” Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta said during the court hearing, reported Deccan Chronicle. The petitioner had stated in the court that in the absence of a liberal loan policy, most of the farmers were dependent on private money lenders.Tweet
