The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on Thursday had given a recommendation which might be a relief to air passengers. The regulatory body had said that there is no need to take out tablets or iPads from hand baggage to be put separately in trays for X-ray at airport security check as it is done according to present norms. The advisory said that BCS has decided to stop `standalone' X-ray of personal electronic devices that do not have detachable batteries and has asked the CISF to take a decision on the same promptly. According to a TOI report, India is among the few countries that require flyers to take out tablets from hand bag and have them X-rayed separately.
In addition to this move, the government is also trying to fast track the provision of electronic boarding pass in major airports across the country.
