The News Minute | June 14, 2014 | 4.37 pm ISTY S Sharmila Reddy of the YSC Congress has written to the Hyderabad police asking for action to be taken against those who are responsible for a “smear campaign” linking her with a Telugu film director.Daughter of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Sharmila wrote to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Crime Station, Hyderabad, on June 14, asking the police to take action.In the letter, she that she was the “target” of a campaign to link her with Telugu film director Prabhudas whom she had “never seen, never met or ever spoken to once”.She said that although an FIR had already been filed under Sections 66A of the IT Act on May 1, by the General Secretary of the party, “fresh acts are being committed by various persons who are continuing unabated” to spread the “scandalous allegations” against her.She said that a smear campaign had been launched against her “in the cruellest manner… with the sole intention to tarnish my honour and dignity. Id like to point to the fact that, out of the tons of websites that run these baseless rumours on me, not one single website was able to give one single evidence supporting their claim”.In the five-page letter, she said that these allegations were causing her “tremendous mental agony”. Saying that she was “deeply disturbed” by these acts, she requested the police to register a case against all the guilty people and “punish them in the most stringent manner”.She has also requested action against “the search engines, including Safari of Apple and Google as these engines are promoting and encouraging the dissemination of information”.
