There were some speculations earlier of a smartphone bearing the name Xiaomi X1 or its new sub-brand Lanmi X1 could hit the markets. But the latest leaks indicate that the device will be under the Lanmi sub-brand and will actually be known as the Xiaomi 5X.
Observers feel Xiaomi’s hands have been forced due to competition from brands like Vivo and Oppo who seem to be growing their products in the CNY 2000 price range in China and the equivalent Rs 20, 000 range in lucrative markets like India.
The information available so far on this soon-to-be-launched Xiaomi 5X will be a 5.5-inch display phone with the main processor being a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. The RAM is going to be 6GB which will make the phone quite attractive to customers who look for such features.
The internal storage limit will be 64GB and there is no mention of the microSD card provision yet. Some leaks also suggest that the phone may indeed be released in many variants and these will be known only when the official announcement comes.
The Xiaomi 5X is expected to be provided with a dual rear camera setup that has identical 12MP sensors but one of them would be the Sony IMX 386 while the other would be Samsung S5k3m3. The front camera for selfies would be a huge 16MP camera.
The OS would be the latest Android Nougat version 7.1.1 with the MIUI 9 skin on it providing the interface. Since these details are coming out of leaks and speculations in some areas the information is incomplete.
The size of the battery, for example, is not clear and the colors of the phones to be released have also not been mentioned.
However the phone itself may be out in the market within a week and all these doubts will stand cleared. The price factor, as discussed, would be close to Rs 20, 000, though when exactly the Xiaomi or Lanmi 5X will hit the Indian markets still remains unclear.
