Woman leader of DYFI who alleged sexual misconduct against MLA PK Sasi quits party

The woman had complained to both the state and national leadership of the CPI(M).

A woman leader of the DYFI (youth wing of the CPI(M)) who raised allegations of sexual misconduct against Shoranur MLA and CPI(M) leader PK Sasi has now quit the party.

According to reports, the woman had complained to both the state and national leadership of the CPI(M) against MLA Sasi. She resigned from the post of DYFI district committee and block secretariat committee in Mannarkkad. She said that she will resign from all organisational posts she held in the DYFI and said she will continue in the youth wing. The district leadership of the DYFI in Palakkad is yet to confirm the resignation.

According to reports, the woman stated that she was harassed and hounded by leaders of the youth wing ever since she filed a complaint against Sasi. Only a few leaders within the youth wing supported her on the issue. Meanwhile, some who supported her were also demoted from their positions within the organisation, she alleged.

The district secretariat member of DYFI from Mannarkad who stood by the complainant was demoted to the position of district committee member allegedly for supporting the woman. Further, another person who had abused the woman on social media and lent support to the MLA who has been accused of sexual harassment has been elevated to the position of vice president.

The reorganisation of the Mannarkard district committee was held after these developments. While President PN Sasi became the new district secretary, another member Sumod is the new president and Riyazudheen is the new vice president of the youth wing in Palakkad.
