"Lalisom", the musical band formed by actor Mohanlal, was criticised heavily on social media for its poor performance at the opening ceremony of the 35th National Games earlier this year. The band’s music director Ratheesh Vega and the actor himself were flooded with criticisms and abusive comments in social media and finally Mohanlal had to return the remuneration amount to the state to put an end to the hue and cry over the issue. What seems to have created a buzz now is a recent statement made by Vega in an interview to SouthLive. The composer said that he would bring back Lalisom in its full form, with or without Mohanlal, if he stayed alive as an artist. "The concept of Lalisom was not bad. I don’t know what happened at that moment in the venue, can’t explain what or where the flaw was. If I stay alive as a musical artist, I will bring the band back in its full form, with or without Mohanlal, and it will be a success," he said in the interview. He also blamed the management of the event for not having provided the team with any facilities on stage to sort out technical glitches. Mohanlal’s performance at the National Games venue was said to be way below expectations. So much so that it received a sound drubbing from not just social media users, but also prominent personalities. Videos of the actor holding the mike and standing still while his songs, which were pre-recorded, continued to play, had gone viral. Critics have said that money was paid for a fake "live show", as many songs were pre-recorded. The worst part, they said, was Mohanlal's poor attempt at lip syncing.
