The News Minute | December 29, 2014 | 5.50 pm IST MDMK chief Vaiko on Monday called Bollywood actor Salman Khan a “traitor” because he campaigned for the Sri Lankan President. Vaiko's supporters asked the actor how was it "Being Human" when he campaigned for someone who is accused of orchestrating war crimes. The Khan and his Kick movie co-star Jacqueline Fernandez are in Colombo to campaign for the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Salman Khan was invited to campaign by the President’s son Namal, who is a friend of Jacqueline Fernandez. Jacqueline was Miss Sri Lanka in 2006. This is the first time that a Bollywood star is campaigning for an election in the island country. However, it is being reported that there are few more Bollywood starts who may go to Colombo for campaigning. The election is to be held on January 8 2015, two years ahead of the regular schedule. The campaigning by stars will yield good results, the President’s son hopes. The Tamil Nadu political parties have been very vocal in their protest against the incumbent President of Sri Lanka. That Indian stars have gone to campaign for him is certain to bring more such comments like that of MDMK’s Vaiko. The DMK too condemned the actor's move. "This shows that Salman has no care for the people of India," the party said. Tweet
