In an interview given to the Huffington Post he has revealed that this particular failure had created a turning point in his life and instead of preparing for the civil services' examination again, he chose, much to his father's disappointment, a job in Journalism, which fulfilled his curiosity and interest in current affairs.He has also shared many interesting facts about him in the interview like when he was offered the CEOship of Star India, he had no experience in working with an entertainment television company of this size and as he says , he was “someone who had not created five minutes of television entertainment ever.”Shankar began his Journalism career with Times of India as a political correspondent. He told media in his interviews that he always had a deep love for television. Once he had said that he can watch television for three straight days without a break.When he chased his dreams he is now the CEO of the most successful television network in India.
