Facebook-owned WhatsApp never stops working on new features within its messaging app. Even before the last introduction of a fingerprint unlock is moved from the beta version to the stable one for regular use by all users, comes this news that there may be a message ‘disappearing’ feature soon. This means a message you send or receive will disappear after a while. The feature will come with the option to the user to set the on/off and the time lapse after which the message should disappear.

The revelation of this new development is the courtesy of ‘WABetaInfo’, which wrote on Twitter, “WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.275: what's new? WhatsApp is working on new features. In this version there are hidden tracks about Disappearing Messages!”

WhatsApp version for Android 2.19.275 will carry this feature for download and installation. The information is WhatsApp has just started working on this and is said to be in the Alpha stage. Once developed, it would be internally tested and then let out in beta version to a limited number of users, typically from the developer community to receive feedback. Based on the reports, if any bugs are found, they will be rectified before the stable version is released for universal adoption. If the Android version is mentioned here, there will be an iOS version too under development.

Further details indicate that the option to choose the disappearing of messages will be included in the Group Settings. There will be two options given one will be related to on/off of the disappearing of messages and the other the setting of the time. It says the two time slots are 5 seconds and one hour. WABetaInfo also says once the message disappears, there’s no way you can access it anywhere. The only point to be clarified is if this feature will be permitted for use by everyone.
