Legendary Telugu director S S Rajamouli has recently taken up the cause to fight smoking, in solidarity with the American Oncology Institute (AOI). He expressed his support in a video released as a public service initiative by the Institute.
The director of over ten blockbusters including the 600 crore grosser Bahubali, explicitly pledges his support to the initiative in the 94 second clip. The video begins with a monochromatic Rajamouli facing the camera and asking, “A hero. Who is it exactly?,” and then transitions to a montage of people answering it, taking names of their superheroes or legends of choice. The director then says, “They are heroes, yes. But you can be a hero too. The hero of your life.” The video keeps alternating between Rajamouli’s monologue, and an assortment of shots that discourage smoking.
Rajamouli kickstarted this public interest campaign in Citizens hospital in Hyderabad. Its slogan is, “#FightSmoking...be the hero of your life.” A website (fightsmoking.in) is also mentioned in the video, which provides greater detail regarding AOI, as well as the support provided by the legendary director.
Rajamouli joins other celebrities who have lent their names to similar causes to bring about positive social change.
