Even as Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma powered India to a victory against Pakistan on Sunday with a fabulous century, the post-match press conference saw the ace batsmen’s witty side on display as he fielded questions on the game. Pakistan took a pasting in the field and later, their batsmen failed to rise to the occasion. When asked what he would suggest to batsmen from the Pakistani team, Rohit shot back with a tongue-in-cheek response. “If I ever become Pakistan's coach, I'll definitely let you know, what can I say right now?” he said.

Rohit Sharma's strokeful hundred off just 85 balls was the batsman's fastest in his career. Explaining that challenging conditions need assessment, Rohit said that the strategy for Sunday's game was 'not to lose wickets, build a platform and then take the game forward.' The batsman has been in glorious form this World Cup, earning praise for his batting style from across the world. The 32-year-old scored a match-winning century against South Africa earlier in the series. On Sunday, he was involved in a 136-run opening stand with KL Rahul.

Speaking after the game, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had high praise for Rohit. "Rohit's knock was outstanding today. He again showed today why he is such a good ODI player.”

Rohit was visibly upset when he was dismissed after he got inside the line of the ball and attempted to hoick it over short fine leg, but didn’t get enough power in the shot and holed out.

“When you're set you want to get as many runs as possible, so it was a disappointment when I got out. I wasn't thinking about the double hundred, trust me. It was a good pitch and I wanted to continue batting as long as possible,” he told reporters.
