Akshara Haasan, who made a splash with her presence as a hacker in Ajith’s Vivegam, is on the lookout for good opportunities and she hasn’t restricted herself to just films. Apparently, she is in talks for a web series and believes the platform will soon be taking over.
Rumoured to have signed a new web series opposite Rana Daggubati for Viu, Akshara has clarified she is just in talks. “No. I haven’t really signed on for anything yet. Although, I have been speaking with a few people. Other than that, there is nothing to confirm right now,” Akshara told Deccan Chronicle.
Commenting on the changing trend of embracing the web series culture, she said. “We are in a new era. And I think web series is going to be taking over. It is a new medium for creating art and it pushes a lot of boundaries. I hope it works out well.” Asked if she feels the film industry will be affected due to the increase in web platforms, she said, “I honestly hope film exhibition, as we know it, doesn’t get affected because of it, because movies have their own charm. I wish films and web series shine together hand in hand peacefully.”
Over the last few months, several actors have warmed up to the idea of being part of a web series. Baahubali star Rana Daggubati set an example by playing a crucial role in the show Social, exclusively made by Viu, online streaming platform. Tamil director Balaji Mohan directed a web series called As I’m Suffering from Kadhal for Hotstar, and it was extremely well received.
