Tollywood actor Vishnu Manchu is all set to debut in Kollywood and he has chosen a political thriller for it. Confirming the news, director GS Karthik told IANS, “The universal concept of the story will appeal to audiences across languages. Hence, we decided to make it as a bilingual. Vishnu is not completely alien to Tamil. When I suggested the idea that we make the film as a bilingual, he was more excited than me.”
Revealing about the film, the director reportedly said, "We want to highlight that a voter is the most important person in a democracy. Unfortunately, he or she rarely gets the due respect. This forms the crux of the story.”
The film is a bilingual that will be shot simultaneously in Tamil as well as Telugu. Titled as Voter in Telugu, its Tamil title is Kural 388, said the director. He had told IANS that, “In Telugu, we have titled it, Voter. We think 'Kural 388' will be a powerful Tamil title. We plan to go on the floors very soon.” The groundwork for the bilingual has begun already with the team roping in Surbhi to play the female lead.
Son of veteran actor Mohan Babu, Vishnu made his debut as a child artiste with Ragile Gundelu in 1985. He then went on to debut as hero with the film titled Vishnu, which went on to win him the Filmfare Best Male Debut. In 2007, he came out with the hit film Dhee and some of the hits in his career include Denikaina Ready, Doosukeltha, Rowdy and Anukshanam.
Vishnu seems to be following the footsteps of his contemporaries such as Mahesh Babu, who recently made his debut in Kollywood with SPYder. More details about the film are expected soon.
